Hip Hop in the Greek?

I heard Gerald Bray point this out in his Church History lectures on www.biblicaltraining.org, and have been fascinated with it ever since. (He didn't mention Hip-Hop, but I'm sure he would have if he was from the ends).

In Revelation 1:9 John says,
"I was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus." ESV

In Greek this seems to flow like a rap lyric:
I have written the beats of the bar above the text, so that you can see how it flows. The Greek has been written phonetically rather than with the traditional method of writing Greek in English characters:

_____1_____2_______3______4
e-ge-nomen _ev_tay__nayso__tay
__ka-loumen-ay______Patmo,_di-a-
____ton__lo-gon_tou_theou___kai_ tain
___mat-ur-_ian_____Yesu.

Have fun trying to recite it!
